Reading Now

"The Child"(2017) by Fiona Barton

It was difficult to stop reading this book the day I bought it. I bought it because it reminded me of the book "In a dark, dark wood" by Ruth Ware. Which I absolutely loved!

The story is not similar but there was something about the atmosphere and characters beeing writers among other things that gave me the association.

I began reading this at a cafe but struggled to consentrate because of some loud people doing a quiz like it was a matter of life or death next to me. So I continued reading at home. Now I'm almost finished.

The story is about the discovery of a baby skeleton and three women interested in the case. One of them thinks it might be her  baby who dissapeared many years ago. Another is a journalist who writes about the discovery. When it comes to the third woman I'm not sure why she is interested. But the news about the baby skeleton makes her nervous and she can't relax. So far in the story she has contacted the journalist a couple times.

The book is well written and atmospheric. I think one of the main characters are especially interesting to read about and people she knows. The latter person, Emma.

I found it interesting that few other characters seem interested in the discovery.

Have you read the book?

  4. This sounds like a thrilling, and disturbing book! I’m glad you are enjoying it. Your experience at the café was unfortunate, sometimes I need silence to sit down and read. I’m currently reading a YA book called ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’, I’m just a little way in, but so far so good! :-) xx
