The Trial Book Review

I've read my second strange book by Franz Kafka now. I can not remember having read books like these two. The Castle and The Trial. The latter I finished today. In both stories a man is troubled with the dangers of his future and his own desires for doing something wicked and dangerous. No matter how he lives he wants to live life to the fullest and seize every upportunity that can give him some benefit.

In The Trial which I will write about today the main character wakes up being arrested. The arrest drags him into a black whole and he lives his life like normally. But he is unsecure what everything will lead to and when. He probably knows a great deal about the result. I did not mention that they never tell him what he is being accused of and he must find a lawyer and the lawyer tells him nothing. So this is The Trial. Josef K, the main character tries to win time and influence and play a game as good as he can. He work as a bankier and continues the work as long as the process is ongoing. Leni his misstress introduces him to another man awaiting a result for his process from the same lawyer. Soon this other man reveals he has been waiting for five years and that he practially lives in his lawyers house in a small room more like a storage space. This does not seem odd to Josef K. He just don't like that Leni is involved with the other man and that he had to learn about it at the lawyers house.

Franz Kafka writes good and keep the focus always on the same character Josef  K without it being boring or strange. There are some other characters we get a little better introcution of like Leni, his misstres and the lawyer. Nobody is being described as a close friend or lover or parent of Josef K and that could be boring. But the story is rather unique and well written.

The nature of the characters in this book seem to be the same. One meet another and they equally understand each other quickly. They speak kind of the same way and behave strange with sudden passion or discretion. People there are quickly updated on news and nothing is been talked carefully about or kept quiet.

The book has 230 pages which is just perfect. And it is a classic so you should easily find it! :)

What are your thoughts on The Trial?

Perfect Summer Chill

Regardless of the weather which is always so important during summer I always like the thought of reading fiction book after ficion book. I also like to write. Fiction writing like short stories. Writing like blog posts, letters and diary notes. This summer I plan to work on my book. For more simple writings like the diary I'm writing more honest about feelings and my days. Such writing does not require much work but keeps one more reflected about life. Dreams, changes and progress and your current situation is important to sum up and put into words! I feel more calm and reflected by this rather quick.

When I'm in the mood for writing blogs posts it is one of the loveliest thing to do. It does not take much time. And there are many things to write about and photos to share. When I find a good book I read at the library, at home, on the subway and in cafes. A good fiction book should be an easy read, have interesting thoughts and confident language telling a good story. I once hope to have my own library! Making the space feel like an oasis for me and my visitors.

Once I find a fiction author I like I focus more on his/ her books instead of always checking out a new. Since I like writing myself I like seing more from the same author. Knowing more of a couple authors books then twenty authors books makes the reading fun because one is more focused during reading knowing about the style and story developing.

Actually reading can have a light easy on ones mind and give a good dose of comfort.
I've gathered a few books on my list I wanna read. Short fiction books from authors I like. For instance Franz Kafka and Paulo Coelho! If Margaret Mitchell had written more then one book I would read them all :)

If you are into reading long books I could recommend Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Actually it was quick to read :)

Have you planned to read this summer?

Gothenburg Haul

A day during this June month I went to Sweden. It was my first time in the country and it was great! I went there with a friend and one of his friends whom drove to Gothenburg. We went in the morning and after a couple hours we were in the city. We did some shopping, took photos, met a friend and went out to eat a couple times! The weather was comfortable though cloudy and later rainy. I got time to take photos before the endeless rain came pouring down.

Here's what I found in the city. The first purchase was a Nars lipstick. I found it at Sephora where I got a closer look at Nars makeup. This lipstick is called Bangkok. It is a perfect nude and sandy red color. The texture is quite nice. Also the staying time!

If only this Rimmel concealer would have a pink undertone I would love it! It is a bargain concealer with everything pretty perfect. For me I discovered I will only get use of it sometimes . The color is one of the pretties concealer colors though!

I bought I new beauty blender. These are good products for applying makeup!

I also picked up some decoration. I love the look of these items! :)

I hope to travel to the city again sometime. It is not that far from Oslo city.

Reading Now. The Ice Princess

The Ice Princess is a crime story beginning with a man discovering a dead body in a house he is looking after. A woman is found dead in a bath tub in the house. The dead woman was the childhood friend of the main character Erica whom is the second to see the dead body in the house. The investigation of the local police begins with family members. And investigation seems to lack proper routines and knowledge which make the story more interesting and gives a feeling of something to look forward to. Early in the story as readers we get to know that a man seems definitely involved in the murder. Erica becomes quick a support for the family and has to deal with her own difficult loss of her parents and an unexpected problem caused by her sister's husband Lucas who wants to sell Erica and her sister Anna's late parents house where the two of them grew up. Erica begins to date a handsome police man investigating the murder helping out as much as she can. She has a personal interest in the case to use knowledge in a book project of hers.

I like the presentation of each character being easy to pick up. And I like that many of them are introduced early in the book!

The Ice Princess is the first of  Camilla Läckberg's crime books. And it seems promising! Camilla Läckberg has written many popular crime books . She writes good here with confidence and a good structure. This is my second reading of her books. Now I'm soon half way in the story looking forward to pick up the book again! :)

If you are into the fiction crime genre I can recomend this one. It is not as creepy as it seems looking at the book cover ;)

Old Photos

I looked through some old photos on my phone today. The time is going so fast and it feels like ages since I took these photos. I have quite a lot of old photos on my phone not all of them being good or interesting but I have some forgotten favourites there and profile pictures where I feel the photos of me does not look like me! I always change a lot every forth year my facing looking a lot different. Most of these photos are from 2008 or 2009. I wish they had better quality.

My cousin and old friend always loves vintage and second hand stuff so I borrowed one of her sun glasses among twelve others from her favourites decorating the wall. Today I found some cool second hand stuff and I will look for more of that :) It is fun when you find treasures quickly. I have not been collecting until now.

The photo of the pavillion is my favourite! I did not expect to find it where it was placed. Photographing from below and up gives an interesting touch to the photo :)

I also have some cool nature photos. For years nature has been my place to find inspiration to become better at art like writing and taking pictures. My interest in photography began when I saw the finest apple tre blossoming in our garden years ago. Then I knew I had to buy a real camera and begin training :)

A New The Balm Treat

The Balm Sexy Mama Anti-shine Translucent Powder

It is fun to see and try The Balm makeup. Because of the colors, finishes, quality and design I am loving this brand :) There is so much interesting to try from the brand. I've been missing a good mattifying powder. Just recently I bought this powder with a somewhat interesting color. It works as a matte  highlighter as well as mattifying the skin. Which is cool :) The color is a little beige yellow. With some warmth. I think mattifying powders should give some warmth to avoid the skin looking dull.

This powder is easy to apply even. A little goes a long way. The texture feels comfortable.  It comes with a small mirror only missing a brush. The product mattifies the skin as promised.  Of the mattifying powders I've tried and seen this seems like one of the better ones.

Wich mattifying powders will you compare this one with?

About to Read. The Devil And Miss Prym

I'm in a good mood for reading these days. I've read soon two novels to the end in a short time and finished reading Anna Karenina. My third novel this month will be a book from Paulo Coelho. I've wished to read this for some time as it seems so interesting. I've read two of his novels before and remember the poetically writing to be a comfortable reading experience! This book is called The Devil and Miss Prym and is about struggle between good and evil. I hope to learn something new from reading it and also get inspiration for my fiction writing! I'll make a book review soon if I like the book. If I don't I'll probably write something anyway. Have you read The Devil And Miss Prym? If: What is good and bad here? I can't wait to begin reading. This cover is pretty by the way don't you think?
